The nose flaunts a complex black cassis bouquet, with aromatic finesse, dark fruits and regional leafy characters supported by subtle topnotes of mint, blue gum and smoky black cedar. Savoury characters of blackcurrant and dark chocolate come together in a supple, approachable wine with a soft, multi-layered palate, closing with fine, soft tannins. Great with seared kangaroo fillet with juniper and rosemary or herb-crusted lamb rack with black olive tapenade. In his heyday, Wolfgang Blass was confident and charismatic – just like his wines. He pushed winemaking boundaries, revolutionising the way Australians enjoyed wine. Fifty years on the world has changed, but Wolf’s spirit hasn’t, continuing to motivate and encourage our next generation winemakers to uphold his legacy. Inspired by a new wave of unconventional winemaking, Blass by Wolf Blass was born. Hand-crafted wines in the spirit of contemporary style and experimentation.
